This is such a gorgeous piece! This was the top of an old calendar, I don't have the calendar portion of it, just the part shown. Featured is a beautiful
Hindu Goddess,
I believe it's Lakshmi, with
4 arms. She's standing in a
Pink Lotus Flower and there are
2 Elephant Heads along the top. There was some wording on it for a Bazaar, however the typography was not particularly attractive so I removed it. You can add whatever you like in the space at the top. A nice one for your
Collage or Mixed Media Projects!
OMG Miss Karen, I love it! I've already got gift ideas running through my head.
ReplyDeleteThanks Erin! I can't wait to see what you do with it!

ReplyDeleteOh this is wonderful!!!! Thank you Karen. It's a gem!
ReplyDeleteThis IS a beautiful image of the Goddess Lakshmi. Long before we started blogging about our crafts, my great grandmother in South India, took this image from an old calender and embellished it with silk fabric for the saree and sequins for the ornaments.(This was a common hobby in those days!). She then got it framed and it was displayed in our home for years! Unfortunately, everything has a shelf life and it disintegrated after some 50-60 years...much before I grew up and learned to appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing.
Lovely thank you...!!

ReplyDeleteOh my, I certainly knew of your site in May and I check your site every few days and yet I had somehow missed this one! Oddly, I found it via dharmakarma blogspot! I just love this one. I have larger sized photos like this that are framed and have been in the family for decades. Now I have just the right size image for my Lakshmi crafts! Thank you so much and may she bless you with abundant wealth in every way :)
